The Serbian top-flight superpowers are reportedly courting the 30-year-old defender of Ghanaian descent in an effort to secure his signature in the summer

Serbian SuperLig giants Red Star Belgrade have expressed interest in signing Swiss-born Ghanaian defender Gregory Wuthrich, according to a report from the Serbian media.

The centre-back, currently plying his trade with Austrian Bundesliga side Sturm Graz, came close to sealing a transfer deal with German clubs  FC Köln and FC Augsburg during the transfer windows but for his recurring knee injury that scuppered the move over his pursuit at the 11th hour.

Per Serbian outlet Mozzart SportRed Star Belgrade and Wuthrich are in advanced talks over the deal and that a two-year contract is expected to be agreed upon between both parties as the ex-BSC Young Boys youth man would be teaming up with them in the summer.

The report further stated that with the 30-year-old's current deal set to come to a close on June 30, 2025, those in charge of the Rajko Mitić Stadium are confident of landing him on a free transfer in a bid to reinforce their backline options with his acquisition for their domestic and Champions League campaign next season.

Wuthrich has so far been involved in 23 games for Sturm Graz across all competitions in this current 2024-25 football season.

He has been cap-tied twice by the Switzerland Senior Men's National Football Team on the international stage.
