Young Ghanaian defender Jamal Yusif has reflected on a successful debut season with Spanish lower-tier side Platges de Calvià, expressing pride in his progress and a strong desire to reach even greater heights next season.
The 20-year-old joined Platges de Calvià last summer from fellow Spanish side Cented FC.
Since his arrival, Yusif has grown into a key figure in the squad, making 17 appearances and contributing four goals — an impressive feat for a defender.
“Making my debut in the league is something I dreamt of as a child,” Yusif told Kickgh.com. “To achieve that was a huge moment for me — one I truly cherish.”
Known for his versatility and composure on the ball, Yusif has quickly earned a reputation as a dependable presence in the backline.
His contributions have not gone unnoticed, and the young defender is already looking ahead with determination.
“Like every footballer, after two or three weeks off, you start missing it. For me, the drive going into a new season is to always be better than the last,” he added. “That alone should motivate you to become the best version of yourself.”
Yusif began his football journey in Ghana with Division Two outfit Golden Kicks FC, earning a move to Spain in 2022 following a string of impressive performances.
Since then, he has embraced each step of his footballing journey with humility and ambition.
