Ghanaian defender Maxwell Woledzi has earned a spot in Norway’s prestigious Team of the Year following an outstanding season with Fredrikstad FK.
The Right to Dream Academy graduate was instrumental in Fredrikstad’s successful campaign, which saw the club finish sixth in the league and secure the Norway Cup title, earning a place in the UEFA Europa League qualifiers.
Woledzi, who joined Fredrikstad in the summer of 2023 from Portuguese side Vitória Guimarães, was a standout performer throughout the 2024 season. The 23-year-old made 29 appearances, contributing defensively with 54 interceptions—ranking second in the league in that category.
His commanding presence at the heart of the defense was pivotal for Fredrikstad, earning him recognition as one of the best players in the league and securing his place in the season’s best eleven.
A product of Ghana’s renowned Right to Dream Academy, Woledzi’s rise has been remarkable. He previously played for FC Nordsjælland in Denmark, where he was teammates with notable players such as Mohammed Kudus, Mohamed Diomande, and Simon Adingra.
Despite his growing reputation and interest from top clubs in Norway and Scandinavia, Woledzi remains under contract with Fredrikstad until the summer of 2026.
Fredrikstad’s success and Woledzi’s performances have placed him firmly on the radar as one of Ghana’s promising defensive talents abroad.
