Samuel Kwaku Owusu was dismissed following a bad challenge on an opponents player in New York City FC II match against New Mexico United on Tuesday at the Belson Stadium.

The Ghanaian centre-back who had already been booked in the 31st minute, twenty-four minutes later earned his second yellow card and saw red for a wild challenge.

New Mexico United went on to win the match 3-0 in the US Open Cup match to qualify for the quater-finals of the competition.

Needless to say, the Pigeons fans were left furious with Owusu's actions, and took to social media to vent their anger – along with supporters of other clubs who saw the funnier side.

Owusu and his side will now turn their focus to the MLS NEXT Pro, where they will face New England Revolution II on Sunday, May 26, at the
Gillette Stadium.
