Chelsea have promoted Ghanaian talents Josh Acheampong and Tyrique George to their first team, marking a major milestone for the players, who both joined the club’s academy at the age of 8.
The announcement, made on Thursday, celebrates the 18-year-olds’ steady rise through the ranks. Both players were part of Chelsea’s pre-season tour in the United States and have since been training with the senior squad.
This season, Acheampong and George have already featured in the UEFA Conference League and EFL Cup.
Tyrique George, who signed a long-term contract in the summer, was soon followed by Josh Acheampong, who put pen to paper this week, securing his future at Stamford Bridge until 2029.
In a special locker room ceremony, head coach Enzo Maresca commended the duo, with teammates applauding as they received personalized locker signs.
Though born in England to Ghanaian parents and having represented England at youth levels, both players remain eligible to play for Ghana’s Black Stars, keeping their international prospects open.
