Ghanaian forward Frank Acheampong continued his fine form in the Chinese Super League, scoring twice to steer Henan FC to a resounding 5-2 win over Wuhan Three Lions on Sunday.
The 31-year-old broke the deadlock in the 11th minute, rising highest to head home a Lucas Maia cross. Lu Yongtao then struck twice — first in the 24th minute and again just four minutes into the second half — to stretch Henan’s lead.
Acheampong added his second moments later, bursting through the middle before rounding the goalkeeper with a deft touch and calmly slotting into an empty net to make it 4-0.
Felipe Cordoso piled on more misery for the hosts with Henan’s fifth of the night, before late goals from Darlan and Long Wei salvaged some pride for Wuhan.
The brace takes Acheampong’s tally to 13 goals and two assists in 25 league appearances this season — one of his most prolific campaigns since moving to China.
The former Ghana U20 bronze medalist is now being tipped for a possible return to the Black Stars after years away from the national setup.
