Athletic Bilbao secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Ludogorets Razgrad in their UEFA Europa League Group F matchup, with second-half goals from Iñaki Williams and Nico Serrano overturning an early deficit.
Ludogorets opened the scoring in the 20th minute when Erick Marcus capitalized on a loose ball following a corner, firing a low shot from outside the box.
After a VAR review confirmed the goal, the Bulgarian side took a 1-0 lead. Despite controlling possession and creating several chances, Bilbao couldn’t find a way past Ludogorets’ defense in the first half.
The breakthrough finally came in the 73rd minute, when Oscar De Marcos delivered a pinpoint cross into the box, allowing Iñaki Williams to slot a precise right-footed shot into the bottom corner for the equalizer.
Bilbao wasted no time capitalizing on their momentum, as just a minute later, Nico Serrano finished off a swift counterattack with a clinical goal, assisted by Unai Gómez, putting Bilbao ahead.
This comeback win strengthens Athletic Bilbao's standing in Group F and builds confidence ahead of their upcoming La Liga clash with Real Valladolid.
