Ghanaian forward Joseph Paintsil showcased his exceptional form once again as he scored his eighth goal of the season in LA Galaxy's 3-2 triumph over Portland Timbers on Saturday in Major League Soccer.
The 26-year-old Paintsil also provided two crucial assists, enhancing his candidacy for the game's MVP award.
The match saw LA Galaxy take the lead in the 38th minute with Gabriel Pec scoring from Paintsil's assist. Paintsil continued to make an impact in the 48th minute, setting up former Barcelona midfielder Riqui Puig to double the lead.
Portland Timbers responded with a goal from Jonathan Rodriguez in the 52nd minute, narrowing the gap. However, Paintsil extended LA Galaxy's advantage in the 58th minute with his eighth goal of the season.
Despite Santiago Moreno's goal for Portland Timbers in the 73rd minute, the team could not level the score. LA Galaxy held firm to secure the victory and add three more points to their tally.
With this win, LA Galaxy remains at the top of the MLS standings with 49 points after match week 26.
