Mohammed Fuseini has bemoaned his elation after notching his first ever UEFA Europa League goal for Royale Union Saint-Gilloise.

Royale Union Saint-Gilloise defeated FC Twente 1-0 at De Grolsch Veste in Thursday's Round 5 encounter, with Fuseini scoring the only goal of the match in the 11th minute. It was the forwards first Europa League goal.

Fuseini, who has enjoyed a remarkable resurgence this season, having scored five goals, so far, in all competitions, believes he is thriving after putting in plenty of hard work on and off the pitch.

“I was really excited and happy with the team to get our first win in the Europa League. This was an important game for us and you could see at the end the excitement on everyone's faces,” Fuseini told Flashscore.

“Yes, I think this win is going to boost our confidence going into every game with the mindset of winning and we definitely think there is a chance for us to qualify for the playoffs.

“For me personally I think it is going really well because I feel like there is more room for improvement and the season is still long. I want to get double figures at the end of the season.

“From the performance of yesterday, I think we have what it takes to beat any of the teams we have to face in the league phase of the Europa League.”

Saint-Gilloise will wrap up the first round of the Europa League with two home games against Nice and Braga, and then jet out to Rangers for the final match.
