Black Stars forward Osman Bukari has expressed his excitement about making his Major League Soccer debut for Austin FC, despite the team being held to a 2-2 draw by Charlotte FC.
Bukari started the game for Austin FC but was substituted off after 57 minutes, watching the rest of the game from the bench as Jon Gallagher scored a late equalizer for his team.
The 24-year-old forward had put Austin FC ahead early in the game with a goal from Alexander Ring, but Karol Swiderski levelled for Charlotte FC before halftime. Iuri Tavares then gave Charlotte the lead in the second half, only for Gallagher to rescue a point for Austin FC.
Taking to social media after the game, Bukari expressed his delight at making his debut in front of the fans, despite the disappointing result. "Excited to have made my debut in front of the fans last night. Not the results we wanted but we will keep fighting. Let’s go Verde!" he wrote on X.
Bukari joined Austin FC in the summer transfer window after leaving Serbian giants Red Star Belgrade, where he impressed in his two seasons in the league.
He is expected to play a key role for the Texas-based club as they chase a playoff spot in the Western Conference.
