Ghanaian striker Martin Boakye netted a sensational hat-trick for Qingdao Hainiu in a spirited 4-3 defeat against Zhejiang Professional FC in the Chinese Super League on Saturday.
The match which was a typical goal-scoring festival saw the Italian-born Ghanaian, Boakye, dishing out a blood-tingling performance which wasn't enough to give his side a win.
Boakye wasted no time in breaking the virginity of the match as he received a pass from Elvis Saric, firing a daunting righ-footed stunner right outside the left side of the 18-yard box which landed into the net of the home team.
The relentless Zhejiang Professional bounced from slumbering into sleep as Sun Guowen and Deabeas Owusu-Sekyere scored in the 24th and 28th minutes, respectively.
Boakye notched his second on the day in the 53rd minute mark as he capitalized on an Evans Kangwa cross with a Peter Crouch-like header which zipped into the Green Giants net.
Zhejiang Professional kept pushing until they found another breakthrough, extending their lead with a 62nd (Leonardo) and 72nd minute Jean Kouassi goals.
Boakye wrapped up the scoring with his hat-track in the 76th minute with a killer-instincts right-footed shot from the center of the box. Despite his explosive performance in front of goal, Qingdao Hainiu succumbed to an hear-breaking 4-3 defeat.
Boakye has been instrumental for Qingdao Hainiu this season, having played in 21 games and scoring nine goals in the 2024 Chinese Super League.
