The 30-year-old former Charlton Athletic last line of defence has sealed his move to the Slovakian elite division club until the end of the current football season
Slovak First Football League side FC Košice have secured the services of Ghanaian goalkeeper Joe Wollacott on a short-term contract, with an option of extension to a year upon its expiry.

The agile shot-stopper is teaming up with the VSS on a free transfer after severing ties with English League Two club Crawley Town this summer.
An official statement over the capture of the Ghanaian gloves-man read: ''FC Košice's goalkeeping team has been expanded by experienced Joe Wollacott. The 30-year-old goalkeeper joins the yellow-blue team on a short-term contract until the end of 2026, with the club having the option to extend his contract until 2027. Wollacott has been training with the team for two weeks and will compete with Matúš Kira and Filip Kalanin for a place between the posts.''

Right after signing on the dotted lines, the experienced goaltender had this to tell his club's official website: ''This project appealed to me. When I talked to people at the club, I saw that this is a significant club that is moving in the right direction. At the same time, it is a personal challenge for me - to go abroad and try something new. Everyone here has received me very warmly, we have a nice stadium, quality training conditions and Matúš and Filip have also received me very well. They are both quality goalkeepers and I believe that in healthy competition we will push each other forward. I want to play, help the club get to where we want to get together, and I believe that we have a successful season ahead of us.''
Sporting director Terry Westley added: ''We were looking for an experienced goalkeeper who would naturally fit into the environment and culture of our club. Someone who is ready to fight for the position of the goalkeeping unit and at the same time can use his experience to support Matúš Kira and Filip Kalanin. We know that we have two skilled goalkeepers in Matúš and Filip, but going into the next ten games without another experienced goalkeeper would be too big a risk. Joe is a professional in every way and is ready to pass on his experience thanks to the work of our goalkeeping coach Jakub Kovalík.''

On the international stage, the Bristol-born native has won 12 caps for the Ghana national team at the senior level since switching international allegiances and represented the Black Stars team in 2021.
