Ghanaian international Elisha Owusu scored an own goal as Auxerre fell to a 3-1 defeat against Le Havre in their French Ligue 1 clash on Sunday evening.
Owusu, who played the entire match, struggled to make an impact and was unable to prevent his side from slipping to defeat. The midfielder's misfortune began in the 17th minute when France’s Gaëtan Perrin scored a direct free-kick to put Auxerre ahead. However, Owusu's own goal shortly thereafter leveled the score for Le Havre.
The teams went into halftime at 1-1, but Le Havre secured the win with two second-half goals from Rassoul Ndiaye and Abdoulaye Touré.
Despite the setback, Owusu has made two appearances in Ligue 1 so far this season. He is set to return to Ghana to join the Black Stars squad for the 2026 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Angola and Niger.
