Ghanaian defender Denis Odoi made a key contribution for Royal Antwerp, assisting in a 1-1 draw against Gent in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League on Sunday.
Starting for Antwerp, Odoi played the full 90 minutes as the team earned a valuable point at the Planet Group Arena. Gent initially took the lead with a goal from Seven Kums in the 16th minute, assisted by Jordan Torunarigha.
Antwerp equalized in the 30th minute through Tjaronn Chery, who scored from Odoi’s precise pass. Despite efforts from both sides, no further goals were scored in the second half, resulting in a draw.
The 36-year-old Odoi has made five appearances for Antwerp this season, contributing one assist. He joined Antwerp this summer from Club Brugge after his contract ended.
Notably, Odoi was not selected for the Black Stars' squad for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Angola and Niger.
