Promising Ghanaian defensive midfielder Jamal Abubakar has completed a transfer from lower-tier outfit Dansoman XI Wise FC to Ukrainian Premier League club Polissya Zhytomyr.
The highly-rated youngster, who has built a reputation in Ghana’s lower divisions for his composure on the ball, tough tackling, and ability to shield the defense, now embarks on his first professional adventure in Europe.
Officials of XI Wise confirmed the deal on Monday, describing Abubakar’s move as a reflection of the club’s commitment to nurturing and providing opportunities for young talents.
Abubakar is expected to initially integrate into Polissya’s reserve and development setup before gradually working his way into the senior team, with the club hopeful that his physicality and tactical awareness will be an asset in the Ukrainian top flight.
