Ghanaian midfielder Richmond Darko has completed a permanent transfer to Thai Premier League side Chonburi FC during the January transfer window.
The 22-year-old joins the Sharks from Muangthong United, where he featured regularly in the first half of the 2025/26 season and did enough to convince Chonburi’s technical team of his quality.
Darko made 13 appearances in all competitions during his loan stint, scoring twice and providing four assists, a form that ultimately earned him the move.
Chonburi confirmed the signing on Thursday morning as they officially unveiled the midfielder at the Chonburi Daikin Stadium after he successfully completed a trial and agreed terms with the club.
The Ghanaian has already linked up with his new teammates in training and could make his debut in Saturday’s home clash against Lamphun Warrior, scheduled for a 6:30pm kick-off.
Darko, a right-footed defensive midfielder was born on 22 January 2002 first made his name in the Ghana Premier League with FC Samartex 1997, where he impressed during the 2024/25 season with 22 appearances across all competitions before securing a move to Asia.
Chonburi currently sit 12th in the Thai League standings with 15 points from 16 matches, and the Sharks sees Darko’s arrival as a key addition as they look to strengthen their squad for the second round of the campaign.
