Black Stars right-back Caleb Yirenkyi has been shortlisted for the Young Player of the Month award in the Danish Superliga following his standout performances for FC Nordsjaelland in August.
The 19-year-old Right to Dream Academy graduate impressed with 300 minutes of action, contributing one goal and one assist for his club during the month. His form has not only boosted Nordsjaelland’s campaign but also earned him a call-up to the Black Stars, where he made his competitive debut in the 2026 World Cup qualifier against Chad on Thursday, September 4.
Yirenkyi faces stiff competition for the award, with fellow Ghanaians Prince Amoako Jr. (FC Nordsjaelland) and Bismark Edjeodji (Vejle Boldklub) also nominated. Other contenders include Thomas Jorgensen (Viborg), Clement Bischoff (formerly Brøndby IF, now Red Bull Salzburg), and Hjalte Bidstrup (Viborg).
Fans will decide the winner through a public vote, with the result set to be announced after the international break.
Yirenkyi is expected to feature again for the Black Stars when they face Mali at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday, September 8.
