Ghanaian teenage sensation Ilyas Ansah delivered a standout performance to help SC Paderborn 07 secure a 3-1 victory over Darmstadt 98 in the German Bundesliga 2.

The 19-year-old, who was born in Germany to Ghanaian parents, made a substitute appearance in the 79th minute, replacing Sebastian Klaas in the highly anticipated week 2 fixture at the Home Deluxe Arena.

Ansah wasted no time making an impact, needing just four minutes on the pitch to make his presence felt in the thrilling match on Sunday afternoon.

Paderborn initially faced an early setback when Darmstadt’s Oscar Vilhelmsson scored in the seventh minute, giving the visitors a lead that they held onto through halftime.

However, Paderborn staged an impressive comeback in the second half. Sebastian Klaas equalized in the 53rd minute before making way for Ansah later in the game. The hosts continued to dominate, adding a second goal in the 64th minute. Ansah then sealed the victory with a decisive goal in the 83rd minute, capping off a remarkable performance.

Ansah’s football journey began with SC Lüdenscheid in 2017, followed by stints at VfL Bochum, Eintracht Dortmund, and Sportfreunde Siegen before joining Paderborn.
