The 18-year-old defender is set to ink fresh terms with the west London club following successful negotiations over a new deal with his boyhood club

London-born Ghanaian right-back Josh Acheampong is reportedly close to signing a contract extension with English Premier League heavyweights Chelsea, a report from the English media has claimed.

The talented full-back was kept at bay from the 'Blues' U21 side in September after dragging his feet over penning a new deal with the Stamford Bridge Stadium outfit as his current deal is set to expire in 2026.

According to Football.London, the two parties have held ''positive talks'' over contract extension and fresh terms are expected to be struck soon as European top guns Real Madrid and Paris St. Germain are believed to be shooting admiring glances at the Ghana-prospect defender.

Acheampong is being regarded as a future prospect at the London-based club and are now set to tie him down to a long-term contract by warding off interest from potential suitors going forward.

He has so far figured in 4 league games for Chelsea Reserve side in the ongoing Premier League 2 2024/25 football campaign.

Given his Ghanaian heritage, he remains eligible to play for Ghana at the international level despite playing for the England national youth teams.
