San Diego FC, an expansion team in Major League Soccer, has completed the signing of Ghanaian winger Emmanuel Boateng from New England Revolution for $200,000 in 2025 General Allocation Money (GAM).
The 30-year-old has been awarded a guaranteed contract, ensuring his stay with the club through the 2025 MLS season.
Boateng, a product of Ghana’s Right to Dream Academy, brings a wealth of experience to San Diego FC with 219 MLS appearances, including 106 starts. Over nine seasons, he has contributed 19 goals and 27 assists.
His MLS career includes stints with LA Galaxy, D.C. United, Columbus Crew, and New England Revolution. Since joining New England as a free agent in 2021, Boateng has made 89 appearances (36 starts), recording eight goals and 12 assists.
Boateng played a key role in the Revolution’s 2021 Supporters’ Shield campaign, contributing two goals and four assists. He was also instrumental in helping Columbus Crew win the 2020 MLS Cup title. Boateng began his professional career with LA Galaxy after a successful college career at the University of California, Santa Barbara.
His extensive experience, both in domestic and international soccer, will be a valuable asset to San Diego FC as they prepare for their inaugural MLS season.
