Eleven minutes later, Robin Colwill grabbed the equalizer for the home team to make it all square halfway through the opening first 45 minutes of the encounter.
On the half hour mark of the match, Amo-Ameyaw restored the Saints lead with a calm finish to make it 2-1 at halftime.
The host were back in the game once again but this time through an own goal to make it 2-2 after Ronnie Edward's scored at the wrong end of the pitch.
Cameron Archer scored for Southampton but Alex Robertson squared things once again for the home team to make it 3-3.
James Bree and Archer scored during the additional time period to make it 5-3 at full time for the visitors who marches on into the next round.
