Emmanuel Gyasi was in action for Empoli who pipped AS Roma 2-1 at home to avoid relegation on the final day of the Serie A on Sunday.

 

The win saw Empoli end the campaign in 17th position on 36 points in the final day standing at the Stadio Carlo Castellani.



Matteo Cancellieri broke the deadlock for Empoli in the 13th minute, as he was superbly set up by the Ghana international. 



The away side did not miss the chance to draw level as Houssem Aouar striked home the leveller on the stroke of halftime.



The Blues were sitting on tenterhooks of being relegated until Senegalese forward M'Baye Niang came off the bench to blast the net with a solid finish to seal the win and Empoli's status for next season.



Frosinone, who ended the season in 18th on 35 points, joins Sassuolo and Salernitana as the relegated teams.



Gyasi, featured in 33 league games, netting three goals and providing one assist in the 2023-24 Serie A season.
