Ghanaian international midfielder Frank Appiah scored and provided an assist as FC Zlin suffered a 3-2 defeat to Viktoria Plzen in the Czech First League round 4 on Saturday afternoon.
Appiah played a key role in Zlin’s response after Viktoria Plzen took an early lead through an own goal in the sixth minute.
The Ghanaian set up Stanislav Petruta in the 13th minute, with the forward finishing the chance to bring Zlin back into the game.
Viktoria Plzen regained control through Christophe Kabongo before Ghanaian striker Prince Kwabena Adu added another goal in the 83rd minute.
Appiah, however, had the final say for Zlin as he found the back of the net to reduce the deficit and give the hosts hope of a late comeback.
The Ghanaian’s goal came in the closing stages of the contest, but Zlin could not find another equaliser as Viktoria Plzen held on for the win.
Despite the defeat, Frank Appiah’s goal and assist made him one of Zlin’s standout performers as he continues to establish himself in the Czech First League.
