The lanky centre-back has joined Grey Owls lads until the end of the season from FC Arouca.

English-born Ghanaian defender Jerome Opoku has officially joined Turkish Super Lig side Istanbul Başakşehir FK on a season-long loan deal.

 

The 24-year-old has been acquired by Istanbul Başakşehir FK on loan until the end of the 2023/24 season's campaign from Portuguese side FC Arouca.

 

Istanbul Başakşehir FK has an option to secure his services on permanent basis at the end of this campaign.

 

The club's official statement reads “Our club reached an agreement with Jerome Opoku, who plays for the Portuguese team Arouca, on loan with an option to purchase until the end of the 2023-2024 season.”

 

Opoku who rose through the ranks of English Premier League side Fulham FC has a contract with FC Arouca until the end of the 2024.

 

He once earned a call-up to the national team of Ghana under Coach CK Akonnor but he wasn't able to honour the invitation following COVID-19 travelling restrictions.
