The Greek second-tier side have announced the capturing of the Ghanaian midfield enforcer on a short-term deal until the end of the current league campaign
Ghana international defensive midfielder Alhassan Wakaso has joined Super League Greece 2 club F.C Ionikos Nikaia on a six-month deal ahead of the January transfer window deadline day.
The experienced midfield enforcer joins the Neapoli Stadium campaigners on a free transfer after mutually terminating his contract with Liga Portugal 2 side Leixões S.C on Tuesday.
"PAE Ionikos is pleased to announce the start of its collaboration with Alhassan Wakaso. The new footballer in our team is 32 years old, originally from Ghana and plays as a defensive midfielder," an excerpt of a statement over Wakaso's signing read.
Given his enormous experience in playing top-flight football, the Greek lower division outfit will now hope to get the best out of him in regaining their top-flight status following their demotion last term.
He has so far had spells with Portimonense, Vitória Guimarães SC, Rio Ave and FC Lorient since he kick-started his professional career as a footballer.
The gangling enforcer is the younger brother of Ghana international mercurial midfielder Mubarak Wakaso.
He has so far earned two international caps with the men's senior national team the Black Stars.
