The 26-year-old defender of Ghanaian descent is reportedly a transfer target for the Die Rothosen as they bid to reinforce their defensive department with his capturing in the summer

German Bundesliga side Hamburger SV are keeping close tabs on German-born Ghanaian centre-back Maxwell Gyamfi in an effort to prise him away from 2. Bundesliga side FC Kaiserslautern in the next transfer window, a report from the German media has indicated.

The former Borussia Dortmund youth star, who linked up with the Fritz-Walter-Stadion campaigners in the summer of 2025, has so far lived up to his billings in this current season, with 21 games already taken in across all competitions so far this term.

Per German news outlet FT, the Bundesliga returnees are eyeing the Ghanaian centre-back as a potential replacement for on-loan Tottenham Hotspurs Croatian defender Luka Vuskovic should they fail to retain his services in the summer.

Gyamfi would be eager to make such a transfer move to his current suitors when they come calling given his quest for top-flight football contest next season.

Given his Ghanaian heritage, he still remains eligible to play for Ghana on the international stage as he's yet to be cap-tied by the Germany senior national team.
