The Swedish top-flight returnees are ready to enter into fresh terms with the Ghanaian defender following the expiration of his deal ahead of the upcoming football campaign
Halmstads BK boss Magnus Haglund has stated that his outfit are waiting for the "word" of Ghanaian centre-back Joseph Baffo over contract extension, with the 30-year-old experienced stopper deal coming to a close this winter.
The former Helsingsborg defender has returned to training and is expected to pen a new deal in the coming days ahead of the commencement of the 2023 Allsvenskan football campaign.
And now, the man in charge of the dugout at the Örjans Vall Stadium has declared their willingness to enter into negotiations over contract extension with the former Eintracht Braunschweig centre-half as they await for his word.
"Yes, now we have a dialogue and of course it is a good signal that he wants to train with us," the Swede gaffer told Newspaper Hallandsposten
He added: "So I probably rate the chance 50/50. At the same time, I have explained that we are approaching a time when he must give notice so that we can proceed if necessary."
Baffo, who is also on the radar of fellow top division side IFK Norrköping, made 19 appearances, by scoring 7 goals in league games for Halmstad BK during the 2022 football season.
The Accra-born centre-back is still eligible to play for Ghana at the international level despite featuring for the Swedish national youth sides.
