Ghanaian striker Richmond Boakye-Yiadom has revealed that former Brazilian forward Ronaldo Luiz Nazario de Lima is his idol.
Ronaldo is widely regarded as one of the greatest players in the history of the sport, having achieved remarkable success with renowned clubs like Real Madrid and Barcelona, as well as the Brazil national team. He earned numerous accolades, including the FIFA World Cup and various other trophies throughout his illustrious career.
Speaking after his recent move to Selangor FC in Malaysia, Boakye-Yiadom, who has previously played for Juventus, Elche, and Al Akhdar, expressed his admiration for Ronaldo and cited him as his role model.
“Ronaldo Luis Nazario de Lima, the Brazilian is my idol. He makes scoring very easy and I prefer a player who scores and can also play and help the team. For me, he was a complete footballer” he said.
The 30-year-old forward, who recently became a free agent, joined Selangor FC on a six-month deal, aiming to bolster the team's campaign for the Malaysia Super League championship in the second half of the season. Selangor FC currently holds the second position in the league table, and Boakye-Yiadom's arrival is expected to significantly enhance the team's attacking prowess.
Throughout his career, Boakye-Yiadom has featured for prominent Italian clubs such as Genoa, Sassuolo, Juventus, Atalanta, and Latina. He also had a spell with Red Star Belgrade in Serbia before his move to Selangor FC.
