Former Ghanaian international, Michael Essien has waxed lyrical on Spanish-born of Ghanaian parentage Nico Williams on the back of his blistering performance to help La Roja lift their fourth European Championship title last night.

The 22-year-old as usual, made manager Luis De la Fuente's starting line up in the final against England last Sunday night and was very brilliant throughout the game having opened the scoring account in just two minutes into the second half.

Chelsea playmaker Cole Palmer scored what could have stretched the game to extra time after levelling the score on the 73rd minute but substitute Mikel Oyarzabal netted with only four minutes to full time to secure the victory.

Nico Williams has been sensational for the Reds in this tourney having netted 2 goals and delivered an assist- with many pundits linking him with a dream move to FC Barcelona.

Speaking on Sporty TV after the game, the former Chelsea and Real Madrid man heaped praises on Nico Williams for his outstanding display throughout the competition and wishes to see him play to the highest echelon of the game.

"He was amazing, amazing. I mean as a young player, turning up in this big game, scoring for your country, I mean what more can I say? He has been fantastic," he told Sporty TV.

Nico Williams is expected to embark on a short holidays after the tourney and will return in few weeks time to join Athletic Bilbao's preseason.
