English Championship side Leeds United attempt to secure the signature of Ghana winger Joseph Paintsil in this summer transfer window has hit snag, Kickgh.com can exclusively report.

The English second-tier outfit have ended their pursuit for the 25-year-old attacker after failing to reach an agreement with KRC Genk on a transfer fee to facilitate the move.

Paintsil had already agreed to Leeds United's personal terms, however Leeds United couldn't meet the financial obligations of the Belgian Jupilier Pro League giants.

He has been linked with a move away from Cegeka Arena outfit after an explosive performance in all competitions for the club. Southampton are also credited with an interest to sign the former Tema Youth forward.

The pacey attacker arrived at KRC Genk in 2018 from former Ghana Premier League campaigners Tema Youth for a fee around the region of €3 million after a successful loan spell at Ferencvaros in Hungary.

He has been involved in 57 goals — scoring 32 times and providing 25 assists — in 143 game outings for KRC Genk.

Paintsil was a top performer at KRC Genk last season when came close to winning the Belgian Jupilier Pro League title.
