Ghanaian international, Mohammed Salisu feels very excited after making a sensational injury return and finally made his debut for AS Monaco in their vital 1-2 win over Stade Rennes at the Roazhon Park in match-day 15 of the French Ligue 1.

The 24-year-old joined the Red and Whites in the last summer transfer window from Southampton but was out of action due to injury.

The lanky center-back has been out of action early this year due to a groin injury and also suffered series of setbacks in the process but resumed training few weeks ago.

Having made their squad last week against Montpelier, Mohammed Salisu was included in the starting line up this time and went on to last the entire duration of the game.

Vanderson broke the deadlock on the 51st minute, Youssouf Fofana doubled the lead later before Bourigeaud pulled one back for the host in the dying embers.

Speaking after the game, the lanky center-back expressed elation and admitted staying almost a year without playing has really been a very tough journey but feels very happy to finally return on the pitch.

"I'm very proud of myself, and I'm very happy from the journey.

"It's been a difficult journey, but in the end, I made my debut today, so I'm very happy."

AS Monaco are currently on the second position with 30 points, and are three behind leaders PSG and will host Olympique Lyon in the next round of matches on Friday, December 15, 2023.

He is expected to be included in Black Stars final squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
