Black Stars deputy captain, Thomas Partey was in action last night for Arsenal and has expressed excitement over the win and also to finally make a start in a while.

Partey, made Mikel Arteta's starting line up last night when they annihilated London rivals Chelsea FC by an emphatic 5-0 at the Emirates Stadium in a Premier League midweek action.

Partey, due to injuries hasn't really played more matches this season not to talk of even making the starting XI but enjoyed 72 minutes of action last night before making way for Italian international Jorginho.

In a post-match interview, the versatile midfielder reiterated how excited he is to finally make a return and added a derby win like this is very important to boost their title winning hopes.

“I’m happy to be back in the team and also to get a win in the derby. It’s a really important game, so I’m very happy.

“It was a very good game, we went all out from the beginning because we knew how important this game was.

“If we don’t approach it right we are not able to win, but we did everything right and I’m really proud of the squad.

“Everything depends on us. We have to continue winning our games, we have a few more games left and we have to win them all.”

Thomas Partey missed out on the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations but is expected to remain fully fit so he will be available for the game against Mali in early June.
