Italian Serie B club Hellas Verona have expanded their HV Academy project to Ghana through a new collaboration with Obuasi-based Desire Football Club.
The partnership forms part of Hellas Verona’s efforts to identify and develop young talents across Africa, following similar initiatives previously carried out in Senegal and Nigeria.
Desire FC, based in Obuasi in the Ashanti Region, established its Youth Sector in 2016 and has since continued to grow its development structure.
The Ghanaian academy currently has several youth teams ranging from the Under-15 to Under-21 levels, providing a pathway for young players to develop their football careers.
The academy’s work in the local community has also started producing results, with some of its promising players earning invitations to represent regional teams.
On Wednesday, September 30, Desire FC President Sammy Appiah and Sporting Director Salvatore Zito visited Hellas Verona’s headquarters in Verona, where they presented the Italian club with a Desire FC jersey.
