Black Stars defender, Jerome Opoku scored the winning goal to help Istanbul Basaksehir beat Kasimpasa by 2-3 over the weekend and has expressed elation after earning them European spot next season

The Navy-Blues were handed a very difficult game but still managed to prevail at Recep Tayyip Erdogan Stadium by claiming all three points

Leo Duartey opened the scoring account in the 13th minute but the score was levelled by Bosnian import Haris Hajradinovic before half time

Just ten minutes into the second half, the visitors restored their lead courtesy Cameroon's Olivier Kemen and that too was cancelled out just five minutes later by Yasin Ozcan.

With nine minutes to full-time, out of nowhere Jerome Opoku scored again to put them 2-3 ahead but held on to full-time this time around

The win means Istanbul Basaksehir have qualified to play in next season's UEFA Europa Conference League having fifth place on the Turkish Super Lig table with 54 points

Reacting to this, the ex- Fulham guardsman posted this on social media; "Europe. Bravo Takım! Nice to score the winner."

The lanky center-back has been very impressive so far this season with 45 appearances in all competitions, 31 in the Turkish Super Lig with 3 goals and 3 assists from the back

Jerome Opoku has been with the Black Stars for sometime now and made his first start against Madagascar in the March international window in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers
