Belgium giants KRC Genk have completed signing of Ghana forward Jerry Afriyie from Saudi Arabian side Al Qadsiah in the ongoing summer transfer window.
The 19-year-old penned a five-year contract with Cegeka Arena outfit after passing a mandatory medical examination earlier this week.
Afriyie returns to the Belgian topflight league after an outstanding campaign on loan with RAAL La Louviere.
“Jerry is a player with an incredible amount of energy,” said Genk's Head of Football Dimitri de Condé. “Whatever he does, he gives 100%. That fits perfectly with the intensity we want to see at KRC Genk.”
“He has a lot of natural ability and possesses qualities that are crucial in the modern game: pace, explosiveness, runs in behind and the ability to cause problems in one-v-one situations,” he added.
“He is also still very young, and we will provide him with the right environment to continue his development. We firmly believe he will be an excellent addition to the current squad, both now and for the future.”
Afriyie started his career with Thoughts FC in Ghana before moving abroad to join Al Qadsiah.
However, he was immediately sent on loan, where he featured for CD Lugo in Spain and their RAAL La Louviere in Belgium.
Although, he missed the final squad for the 2026 World Cup in North America, Afriyie played a role during the qualifiers.
