The rising Ghanaian centre-back is set to play a key role as Swiss giants FC Basel prepare for a crunch Champions League qualifier that could decide their fate in Europe’s elite club competition.

With pressure mounting, Adjetey says the entire squad is locked in and laser-focused on one thing which is booking a spot in the Champions League group stages.

“For me, it’s a great honor to play in the Champions League. We will play a play-off. I just pray we get the win and then we can fit in [group phase].”

Since arriving at Basel, Adjetey has become a fan favorite, admired for his energy and fearless style in defence. Now, with a ticket to Europe’s grandest tournament up for grabs, the 21-year-old is eager to take center stage.

“But for me to play in the Champions League is a very great honour,” he added. “I always watch Champions League.”

For Adjetey, this is more than just a club ambition, it’s a chance to fly the Ghanaian flag high on the biggest stage.
