The relegated English Championship side has confirmed the departure of the Black Stars captain on June 30.

Ghana international Jordan Ayew will be leaving Leicester City next month following the expiration of his contract at the club.

The 34-year-old, who will be leading Ghana’s attack at the 2026 World Cup, arrived at the King Power in 2024 for a fee of €5.90 million from Crystal Palace.

Ayew was uninspiring in Leicester City’s setup in the just-concluded season, where he scored six goals and provided three assists in 42 Championship games.

The former Marseille starlet was among the ten senior players who were announced by the Foxes as players whose services would no longer be needed at the club.

The club’s official statement reads: “Alongside Ricardo Pereira, strikers Patson Daka and Jordan Ayew, defender Jamaal Lascelles and Academy graduate Wanya Marçal will also leave us at the end of the season following the expiration of their contracts.”

During his two-year stay at Leicester City, Ayew netted 12 goals and provided four assists in 80 appearances for the club across all competitions.

He has vast experience in European football, having featured for clubs like Olympique Marseille, FC Sochaux, FC Lorient, Aston Villa, Swansea City, and Crystal Palace.

Ayew holds the record as the highest-scoring Ghanaian in the English Premier League, with 42 goals in 305 matches for Crystal Palace, Aston Villa, Swansea City, and Leicester City.

He is expected to headline Ghana’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be announced by coach Carlos Queiroz on June 1, 2026.

Kickgh.com understands that the experienced striker will announce his next destination after the World Cup tournament, which will be played across Canada, Mexico, and the United States later this summer.

Ayew has been capped 117 times for the senior national team of Ghana, with 33 goals to his credit.
