Black Stars coach Otto Addo has praised Jordan Ayew's performance in Ghana's recent World Cup qualifier against the Central African Republic, stating that he played in his favorite position.

Ayew’s outstanding display helped Ghana secure a crucial 4-3 win and propelled them to the top of Group I in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

In an interview with Bola Ray on Starr Chat, Addo revealed that while Ayew played in his favorite position, he can also play at the flanks and in midfield due to his versatility and tactical awareness.

"I think like I said in the press conference before, especially offensive players are known for goals but there's a lot of defensive work there to do, and I think Jordan did quite well in the game. Surely this is his favorite position but I know he can also play at the flanks and in midfield because he's good, tactical, disciplined and has a good condition," he said.

Addo also emphasized that team performance is crucial, and that individual brilliance is not enough to win games. "For me, it always important that we win as a team not the player and it's about where you will put the players to do the best for the team, but for me it always a teamwork," he said.

The coach also hinted that he will need to analyze Chad's performance before deciding where to play Ayew in their next match against the Chadians. "I don't know next year against Chad where he is going to play, it's difficult therefore I'd have to analyze Chad first," he said.

Ghana's recent victories over Mali and the Central African Republic have boosted their hopes of qualifying for the World Cup, and Addo will be looking to build on this momentum as they continue their campaign.
