English National League side Southend United completed the signing of English-born Ghanaian midfielder Keenan Appiah-Forson on the summer transfer window deadline day.

The 22-year-old scored once in 27 games while on loan at Dagenham & Redbridge last season from English Premier League outfit West Ham United.

And Appiah-Forson, who came through the ranks at West Ham United, has now signed a two-year deal with the Shrimpers.

The energetic box-to-box player, who left West Ham United earlier in the summer after eight years at the Premier League club.

 “I’m very happy to be here and I’m ready to just go for it," said Appiah-Forson.

"I trained yesterday and today and I’ve really enjoyed seeing how the team works and how we play, I'm really excited”

Appiah-Forson will go straight into the squad for Saturday's match at AFC Fylde and is keen to contribute at both ends of the pitch.

“I’m more of a box-to-box midfielder," said Appiah-Forson.

"I can do both attacking and defending jobs so I’ll be up and down the pitch”

Appiah Forson is eligible to represent Ghana at any level in the future
