Ghanaian defensive rock, Lalas Abubakar has joined his new side' FC Dallas for their pre-season training camp.
The training is taking place at the Toyota soccer center training facilities in Texas. With several first team players like Petar Musa, Angola star' Show, Emmanuel Twumasi, and Sebastian Ibeagha joining the training camp.
Abubakar, highly regarded by FC Dallas, was signed as a free agent in December after leaving Colorado Rapids amidst interest from other high profile clubs.
Although he is yet to make his first team debut for FC Dallas. Last season, he made 153 appearances for Colorado Rapids in the MLS. He played a key role when the team reached the playoffs last season. Abubakar notched nine goals during his stay at Colorado.
“We’re very happy to sign Lalas to our roster,” he said. “Strengthening our defensive group this offseason was a priority. Lalas provides us a great player, competitor, and flexibility along our backline. We look forward to him joining our group once preseason begins," FC Dallas Sporting Director Andre Zonatto had this to say about Rapids 2019 and 2020 Defensive Player of the Year.
Abubakar acquired his United States Citizenship last year and he has not played for Ghana at international level.
