Ghana international Andre Ayew opened his season's goal-scoring account for Le Havre AC in their heavy away defeat to Olympique Marseille in the French Ligue 1 on Sunday evening.
Marseille has climbed up to second place following tonight's 5-1 victory over Le Havre AC in their match-week 16 encounter at the Stade Orange Velodrome.
Le Havre AC's hope of leaving the drop zone in the new year was dented in the first half of the game with three goals from Valentin Rongier, Bilal Nidar, and Neal Maupay.
The woes of the visitors were deepened with two additional goals to make it 5-0 in the second half through Elye Wahi and Ulisses Garcia in the 65th and 77th minutes of the game.
Andre Ayew netted the consolation goal for Le Havre AC with a beautiful header from a cross delivered by Antoine Joujou in the 85th minute.
