The American top-tier side made a last minute attempt to snatch the Ghanaian teenager, but saw their bid knocked back on transfer deadline day


Hammarby lF sporting director Mikael Hjelmberg has said he was "surprised" to see the interest being expressed by suitors over their talented budding Ghanaian teenager Kingsley Gyamfi, with a bid from MLS side Austin FC being turned down in the just shuttered January transfer window.

The 19-year-old is set to figure prominently into the first team ranks ahead of the 2024/25  Swedish Allsvanskan season  after recently gaining promotion from the U19 youth side.

That notwithstanding, now that interested suitors have started shooting admiring glances at him, those in charge of the Tele2 Arena have made their intentions clear not to part ways with their prized asset, with first offer being snubbed during the winter transfer window.

"But it was never relevant to go ahead with," Mikael Hjelmberg, who has been taken aback by the early interest expressed in their jewel , said of the bid being knocked back over the 19-year-old to Fotbollskanalens. "It has gone very fast for him. He has done very well. But I have to say that I was a little surprised that there was interest in him so quickly."

The former MSK Zilina Africa FC finished article will have his current deal with the Swedish Allsvanskan side run out on December 31, 2028 and admirers must dig deep into their coffers before they can land him in the near future.

Kingsley Gyamfi is yet to feature for Ghana at any level on the international stage
