The former Aston Villa Youth star, who came very close to linking up with The Lilywhites during his budding stages, is still hopeful of teaming up with them in the not-too-distant future

ltaly-born Ghanaian defender Benjamin Mensah has disclosed his desire to join Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspur after nearly sealing a transfer move with them from English League One side Peterborough United.

The talented right-back, who just joined up with English Southern League Premier Division Central side Real Bedford FC, says he is still harbouring the dream of moving to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after missing out on the opportunity to team up with them as then a teenager.

The 23-year-old versatile full-back revealed that Spurs made an offer of £200,000 to Peterborough United for his transfer switch, but The Posh rebuffed the bid as it fell below their valuation for his services.

Nonetheless, the Ghana-prospect right-back is still positive about a potential move to the north London club someday  after rediscovering his sparkling form with the English non-league club so far this season.

lnteracting with KICKGH from his base in Bedford, England, the former Peterborough United U18 star has shed light on his failed transfer switch to Tottenham Hotspur as then 16-year-old wonderkid.

He said: ''During my time with Peterborough United, l nearly joined Tottenham Hotspur. ln fact, they made an offer of £200,000 for my transfer move, but Peterborough declined it as they requested for more of the fee. But, l know as time passes by, l would surely be working hard and search for such an opportunity once again as l still dream of playing in the Premier League with [them] in the near future.''

He added: ''Right now, my focused mindset is on how l can give of my best to Real Bedford this season. I joined the club not while ago and thankfully my performances haven't been bad since l made my debut with them so far. For now, we have a collective responsibility to ensure the club attains success at the end of the season."

Mensah was named Man of the Match during Real Bedford 1-1 draw game against Bromsgrove Sporting in the Southern Football League over the weekend.

The Seriate-born native guardsman remains fit to play for Ghana at the senior level on the international stage given his Ghanaian lineage.
