Former WAFA midfielder, Majeed Ashimeru, has stated that the Ghana Premier League was a good stepping stone for him, as it groomed him well.
After playing two seasons in the Ghanaian top tier, the 25-year-old left Ghana to join Austria giants Red Bull Salzburg in August, 2017.
During his time in the domestic league he was one of the key cog's for the Sogakope-based side, with their home venue being a stronghold where they dust-off most teams with defeats.
In an interview with the Star Connect team, Ashimeru said; “Playing in the Ghana Premier League was a really good experience because playing at WAFA, it was everyone’s dream of going to Europe first.
“So when we had the opportunity to play in the Premier League and go to stadiums like Tamale Sports Stadium, it was like a crazy experience.
“But for me, it shaped me really well because the Ghana Premier League is really tough," he added.
