Black Stars left-back Gideon Mensah has described the French Ligue 1 as one of the toughest top-tier leagues in the world
Mensah said in an interview with Accra based radio station Asaase Radio that playing in the French Ligue 1 has been the toughest so far in his football career.
Mensah on Tuesday expressed appreciation to French club Bordeaux after a season on loan from Austrian Bundesliga club Red Bull Salzburg.
“The French league is the toughest one I’ve played in my career so far, and it has been a good learning experience playing against world class players,” Mensah told Asaase Radio
“My football journey has been a very straightforward one… unlike most people, I got my opportunity [to play] at the big time at a very early age,”
“My Black Stars journey has not been easy because we went to the AFCON [Africa Cup of Nations] and I had not played a single game, but to have the trust from the new coach has been great for me,” he said.
The former WAFA guardsman, who is returning to Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg said he would love to play in the Spanish or English Premier League one day.
