Tottenham Hotspur forward Mohammed Kudus is set for a spell on the sidelines until April after sustaining a quad injury during Sunday’s Premier League draw with Sunderland, head coach Thomas Frank has confirmed.

The 25-year-old Ghana international was forced off after going down off the ball in the second half of the encounter, a result that left Spurs languishing in 14th place on the league table. Further assessment has now ruled Kudus out of action for several weeks.

Providing an update on Thursday, Frank revealed that the former Ajax man is expected to return only after the upcoming international window.

“That is one where we expect him back after the March international break,” Frank told reporters.

The March international break, scheduled to run from March 23 to March 31, means Kudus will miss a crucial stretch of fixtures as Tottenham look to climb the table in the final months of the season.

Despite the setback, Kudus has enjoyed a solid campaign in north London, making 19 Premier League appearances, scoring two goals and registering five assists, underlining his growing importance to Spurs’ attacking play.

Tottenham are also monitoring other midfield concerns, with Frank confirming that Lucas Bergvall and Rodrigo Bentancur are both undergoing assessment.

“Lucas Bergvall is being assessed today. Same with Rodrigo Bentancur. Rodri has a hamstring injury, looks like a bigger one, unfortunately. We don’t know the time frame,” the Spurs boss added.

With injuries mounting in midfield, Kudus’ absence represents another significant challenge for Tottenham as they navigate the business end of the Premier League season.
