Former Black Stars captain, John Mensah has urged French-based defender Mohammed Salisu to return to the Premier League as he believes it is the best in the world

The 26-year-old has played in three of Europe's top-five leagues so far having previously played for Real Valladolid and Southampton - where he enjoyed three years and made over 60 appearances

The lanky defender joined AS Monaco in the summer of 2023 and has been outstanding even he is struggling to command playing time at the moment.

He's made 26 appearances in all competitions so far this season with three goals to his belt as a center-back; having scored in the Ligue 1, Coupe de France and the UEFA Champions League

Speaking in an interview with Africa Foot, the former Sunderland and Lyon defender has advised his fellow countryman to consider returning to the Premier League as he is very optimistic he will shine wherever he goes due to his quality.

“He [Mohammed Salisu] has the qualities to thrive anywhere. He already knows the intensity and demands of the Premier League.” Mensah told Africa Foot in an interview.

“A return to what I consider the best league in the world would be beneficial for his career.

“But while he has options in Spain, Italy, or Germany, he also has the profile to shine there.” he concluded

John Mensah had a similar career just like Salisu having played in three of the Europe's best leagues and has over 80 appearances for the senior national team Black Stars.
