Ajax gaffer, Alfred Schreuder, has revealed he admires Mohammed Kudus more of a striker than midfielder.

The Black Stars midfielder progression has been blighted with injuries, after joining the Netherlands champions, Ajax, from Nordsjaelland in 2020.

He scored one goal and provided one assist for de joden in the 2021/22 season after scoring four with three assists in the previous season under current Manchester United manager Ten Hag.

The 21-year-old has been deployed in midfield for both Nordsjaelland and Ajax; either as a number 8 or just behind the main striker as a number 10.

But current manager, Alfred Schreuder, insists that a role as the lead striker fits the Black Stars midfielder, Kudus, much better than as a number eight or ten.

"It's not that I don't see him as number ten or number eight anymore, but a role in the front seems to suit him better for now," Schreuder told VI News portal.

"I discussed it with him for a long time. He really enjoyed the training sessions and I also liked him against Red Bull Salzburg," he revealed.

Coach Schreuder has no fixed position for Kudus in mind but likes his intuition.

"That might suit him better if he plays higher up the field.

"It is a bit more tactical in midfield. He also indicates that he feels more free than last season, but that also has to do with his history with injuries. But Kudus is certainly one of the players who will be looking to me again this week. He made a very good impression," he admitted.
