Ghanaian left-back Edmund Arko-Mensah registered his debut goal of the season to save FC Honka from away defeat to IIves in the Finnish top-tier league on Sunday.

A late penalty brilliantly converted by the 21-year-old aided the Yellow and Black lads to secure an important draw against IIves at the Tammela Stadion.

IIves took the lead through Oiva Jukkola in the 91st minute with a brilliant strike before Arko-Mensah scored from the spot in the 98th minute to end the fixture in a one-all draw.

The former Ghana U17 left-footed defender lasted for the entire duration of the game.

He has managed to score one goal and provided an assist in 13 game outings for FC Honka this season so far.

Arko-Mensah was a member of the Black Starlets team which represented Ghana at the FIFA U17 World Cup in India under Coach Paa Kwesi Fabian.

Following his sterling performance in the Finnish top-flight, Ghana U23 coach Ibrahim Tanko has handed an invitation to the 21-year-old to be part of the provisional squad list for the 2023 Africa U-23 Cup of Nations slated to kick-off later this month.
