Belgian-Ghanaian midfielder Dirk Asare has sealed a transfer to SV Zulte Waregem, committing his future to the club with a three-and-a-half-year contract that includes the option of an additional season following his departure from Lierse SK.
The 21-year-old holding midfielder has built his football education across several respected academies, developing through the youth ranks at Lommel, Westerlo, and KV Mechelen. His steady progress at Mechelen earned him promotion to the senior side, where he made his first-team debut at the age of 19 in a home fixture against Anderlecht.
In search of regular game time, Asare moved to Lierse SK, where he quickly became an important component of the squad. He featured in 32 matches, showcasing consistency and maturity that underlined his growing reputation as a dependable midfield presence.
Expressing his delight after completing the move, Asare described the switch as an important milestone in his development, hailing Zulte Waregem as an ideal environment for young players to grow. He cited the club’s professional setup and strong technical staff as key factors behind his decision and is eager to contribute on the pitch as soon as possible.
Zulte Waregem sporting director Davy De Fauw welcomed the midfielder, noting that Asare stood out during his spell at Lierse. He labelled him a promising Belgian talent with the profile of a modern defensive midfielder, combining positional discipline with good technical ability.
